9/11/2015: I believe the soldier named Fleming owned this album as he is definitely in many other photos throughout the album. I'm pretty sure his first name is Ed.
2/21/2022: I'm quite sure Harrison is Roscoe Harrison, as I found him in the city directories living at the address he wrote on the back of this photo. Update, I discovered Roscoe died in 2012.
3/2/2023: I have discovered the soldier who owned this album was not Ed Fleming but Ed Ferring, I misread his name tag on his uniform.
Update: 9/11/2015: I will be posting more photos from this album each day the next week.
Yes, early 1960's before the M14 replaced the M1. I was stationed there 61 to 64. trained with the M1 and had to qualify with the M14 in about 63
ReplyDeleteI was stationed at Ft. Knox August -December 1960, w/ Company E 2nd Training Regiment 3rd Battalion, for Armor Crewman training on the M48A1 Tanks. I was assigned as one of the first crew to preform weekly start-up on the new M60 tanks that arrived on site. We were stationed on the e NW corner of the post near Drag Azz hill and exit to the tank training areas. Anybody out there that was in E-3-2 or remembers the area? By the way we always wore, pistol belts with poncho wrapped, helmet liners and carried our shoulder holsters for the 45 pistol.
