Fort Knox, Wilder, and Covington, KY: Soldier Ferring's Wife

There must be pages that were removed from this album. After the 1956 trip to Versailles, Indiana and the undated wedding in an unknown place are a few pages of military photos dated between November, 1960 and November, 1965. The soldier that I believe is Ed Ferring appears to have married but there are no wedding photos. There are a few photos of Ed and his wife with a young boy but they appear to have been taken on only one occasion, there are no other photos with this child. Here are some photos of the soldier with his wife. There are many photos covering many years.

Update:  3/2/2023: Ed Fleming was actually Ed Ferring. His wife was, I believe, Virginia Carolyn Hammonds. She is also deceased.

Fort Knox, Wilder, and Covington, KY: 1956 Visit to Versailles, IN & a Wedding

Continuing with the same photo album, next are two pages of photos taken in Versailles, Indiana in December 1956. Ed Ferring, a little blonde girl with glasses who may be a cousin, and parents are visiting another family. Then there are several pages of unlabeled wedding photos of a Catholic wedding. Ed Fleming is a groomsman. The wedding photos follow directly after the December 1956 photos in Versailles, Indiana but they were definitely not taken in December. It looks like spring time in the outside photos, and there's nothing identifying as to location.

Fort Knox, Wilder, and Covington KY Album:Lou Brewer & Woody 1957

These are two photos that are in an album that appears to have belonged to a soldier named Ed Ferring from Kentucky. These photos actually are labeled with names, Lou Brewer, taken on January 2, 1957 and Woody (no last name), taken on January 3, 1957.

Fort Knox, Wilder, and Covington KY Album: Miami Beach Trip Nov 1956

These photos come from an album I bought on eBay several years ago. The album is not in good shape, it was probably not intended to be used as a photo album, the paper is non archival, thin white paper. The photos are taped in place with scotch tape. So far I only found one photo with writing on the back. I am calling this the Fort Knox album as several of the photos are of a soldier who went through basic at Fort Knox. The only other identifying place names I can find is a Wilder Volunteer Fire Department, and a soldier who lived at 2237 Madison Ave, Covington, KY.  Wilder is in Kentucky.

Here are a few of many photos taken on a vacation to Miami Beach in November 1956, although a few are labeled November 1957. It looks like they either rented a furnished cottage or visited family or friends.

Update 3/2/2023: While looking in newspapers dot com for the name Carolyn Spears I found a photo of Carolyn with a group of auto drivers' club members, one of whom was an Edward Ferring, and that is definitely the tall man with glasses in these photos.

Ellen Peelman Martwick Album/Returned

I recently bought this album at an estate sale in Tomahawk, Wisconsin. When I got it home and realized  it contained many childhood photos of the children of Ellen Peelman Martwick I notified the agent holding the estate sale, offering to return the album. I was informed that the adult children of the couple whose belongings were at the estate sale did not want the album. Ellen Peelman Martwick and her husband had 4 children; Roger, Muriel, Leona, and Marland. It was Muriel who had owned this album and it's her children who don't want the album or photos. I figure maybe the children or grandchildren of Roger, Leona, or Marland might want the photos.

The first photo is of Ellen Peelman, I assume before her marriage but I don't know that, the name on the back is Ellen Peelman. A brief internet search leads me to believe Ellen was born in 1897 in Price County, Wisconsin. She was married to Walter Martwick.

The second photo is labeled Walter and Ellen Martwick: Roger 1922, Muriel 1924, Leona 1926, and Marland 1928.

If you are a grandchild or great grandchild of Ellen and Walter I will be glad to send these two photos to you.


Update: This album was returned to the family in the fall of 2016.

Pocono Gardens Lodge 1960: 4 Couples

The following photos, all 5X7's, were in a souvenir booklet, which I have thrown away as it was moldy and smelly. I bought these photos off of ebay in 2008. In the photo of the 4 couples sitting at a table you can see surnames on the balloons. The names are Allen, Dirla (or Pirla), Ebbeson, and Pizzuri. I was told the photos were taken in 1960.

2/25/2022: In relooking at these photos the name Pizzuri is Pizzuti, I rescanned and looked more closely at the balloons.
